Grace and Hope in the Waiting

➼ Read lamentations 3. Look at how Jeremiah’s mindset shifts with the words “Yet” and “But”. These are crucial turning points in lament, often being the pivotal shifts in our understanding of the truth

➼ Identify the truths that Jeremiah rehearses. Are there other truths you need to rehearse?

Rewrite them as declarations in your own words as you preach them to your heart.

In the waiting, we have conversations with God. Jeremiah’s lamentation does not end with any resolution but it serves as a model on how to find grace and hope while waiting for God. These are the appeals he makes before God’s throne of grace in this final chapter of Lamentations.

Remember, O Lord…

Lamentations 5:1
Lord, remember what has happened to us. See how we have been disgraced!

➼ As you reflect on what you have asked God to do and how you have asked him to act, which requests anchor themselves on who God is and his character as a promise keeper, and which requests anchor themselves on specific outcomes?

But You, O Lord, Reign Forever…

Lamentations 5: 19

But Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation.

➼ What does it mean that God is sovereign over all the things you’ve brought before him? How is this comforting and in what way is it hard to accept?

Restore Us to Yourself, O Lord…

Lamentations 5: 21-22

Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again! Give us back the joys we once had!

➼ Review your laments in light of what Jesus won for you on the cross. What hope does it bring you that Jesus is sitting on God’s right hand pleading on your behalf?

➼ What opportunities are before you to walk with people in your community who are feeling hopeless? How can you walk with them in their pain and share the hope you have in Christ?

Current Protocols for In-Person Service & Events

We are currently meeting in-person, indoors for Sunday Morning Worship

Recorded Sunday service is usually posted on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Children’s Ministry is also meeting in-person.

We’re excited to welcome you back to in-person worship services, but making sure we keep everyone safe continues to be a priority. Kindly review the following guidelines to help us maintain an in-person worship space that feels safe for as many people as possible.

Protocols for In-person Services beginning June 1, 2022

San Mateo County Health Department has lifted the mask mandate for indoor gatherings, and we continue to follow their guidance as church body.

Please bear in mind that lifting the mandate has come with some conditions. Masks are still required for those who have chosen not to be vaccinated (defined as having had two shots, or one J&J shot). They have specifically not included recovery COVID 19 in this group.

Please remember that the safety of our church family must always be our first concern. We are well aware that the range of opinions about what should or should not be permitted is considerable. The scriptures call us to “love and prefer one another” (Roman12:10 and 1 John 4:7)  and so we are asking that we all take care to observe these protocols and follow all posted signs regardless of your opinions so everyone who attends will feel safe.

  • Masks are optional for adults who have been vaccinated. Unvaccinated adults and children regardless of vaccination status should still wear masks when indoors.
  • Children/youth and adults working with children/youth will need to wear masks until San Mateo County no longer requires school children to wear masks at school.
  • Windows and doors will remain open except in extreme weather conditions.
  • Masks may remove your mask if you are eating or drinking. But please be sensitive to those who have to protect themselves or loved ones. Be ready to mask up.
  • Please fill out/update our online contact card with your current contact information so we can promptly notify you should you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

If you have not been vaccinated, we encourage you to get vaccinated when you are eligible.

We recognize that there may be adjustments in these requirements as time proceeds so please keep a flexible and loving attitude at all times so we can continue to move forward together

When should I stay home?

Please keep others safe by following the current testing, isolation, and quarantine recommendations from the San Mateo Health Department if you:

  • have been in close contact with someone (less than 6 feet distance for more than 15 minutes) who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 5 days.
  • have any COVID-19 symptoms listed at the bottom
  • have tested positive for COVID-19

What to Do If I Test Positive for COVID-19?

Should you test positive for COVID-19, please stay home. San Mateo County Health Department recommends you following these isolation procedures.

If you have been at one of our in-person church events in the 5 days prior to testing positive, please notify the church office immediately:

phone: 650-355-6404
email:info@newlifepacifica.com

Please tell us which in-person church events you attended in the past 5 days and who you had “close contact” with(less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) with at the event. We can help you notify them while maintaining your privacy when notifying others of their exposure.

If you are experiencing symptoms and need support, please let us know as well.

What to Do if my close contact tests positive for COVID-19?

The San Mateo Health Department recommends that vaccinated and unvaccinated people take a COVID-19 test between 3-5 days after you had close contact with COVID-19. If you are unvaccinated or have not received your booster yet, you should also stay home and isolate for 5 days. You may come out of isolation when you have a negative COVID test on day 5 or later.
