In this series of teachings “Deeps Roots for New Life”, we will be exploring how God invites us individually and as a community to live deeply rooted lives. For, a tree with deep roots not only can withstand strong winds that want to bend the tree to its will, but it also bears plentiful and good fruit.
Colossians 2:6-7 “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
Becoming deeply formed by Jesus begins with the slow, hidden, and patient work of growing deep roots. The practices of Jesus aren’t an end in themselves, instead they train our roots to grow deep into Him. As we practice being with Jesus, being like Jesus, and doing what Jesus did, we are sending those roots further and further into that good soil of life with God (Father, Son, and Spirit).
