FAQ’s about Camp
Why did we pick FugeCamp?
Our New Life youth have always had a blast at FugeCamp in the past and have returned feeling like they have connected with each other and with God in meaningful and fun ways. We expect the same this year. The program offers time for us to be part of a bigger program with other churches while also affording small group time with our own group.
We also weighed distance from Pacifica, setting and activities onsite, and cost. We did not want cost to be prohibitive.
What can I expect at FugeCamp like?
Every moment spent at FUGE is intentional. Camp programming is designed to take students out of their normal routine and place them into an environment that is focused on life-change through relationship with Christ.
Here’s Typical Day at a FUGE Camps
Morning Celebration (Breakfast begins at 7:30am, Morning Celebration is at 8am)
Camp attendees will gather to kick off each day in a high-energy way with worship, games, and a word from the camp pastor.
Quiet Time
Each morning, students will have the opportunity to spend time with the Lord, working through a devotion we provide to reinforce the camp theme. This quiet time will be done within Bible study groups.
Bible Study
One of our trained staff members will engage everyone at camp in group Bible study each day. We provide age-specific Bible study materials that align with the camp theme.
Recreation/Missions
Depending on whether you choose Centrifuge or MFuge, your students will participate in either recreation or missions each day.
Worship
Each evening, all camp attendees gather for a time of corporate worship, prayer, and a message from the camp pastor that reinforces the biblical theme for the day.
Church Group Time
One of our priorities is giving you, as the leader, the opportunity to invest in your students. During this time, you will be given a space to gather with your students to unpack the way the Lord is working in their lives during their time at camp. We offer materials to help facilitate this time.
Night Life
These events take place in the afternoon or evening at camp and allow students to participate in camp programming in a really fun, interactive way. Don’t be surprised if things get a little loud (or even messy!) Lights out at 11am.
Where is Fuge Camp going to be held?
We’ll be going to Jenness Park for FUGE camp. It’s located in Cold Springs, CA. (170 miles from Pacifica) Click for a map. Jenness Park is just east of Sonora in the Sierra Nevada mountains. You’ll be in one of the most beautiful places in California, surrounded by trees and nature.
Can I invite a friend to TYG summer camp?
Absolutely, invite a friend to join you at camp! Anyone is welcome but keep in mind that we have only 12 spots reserved, so the sooner you register with a $75 deposit, the more likely you’ll not be disappointed.
Camp sounds fun! But what if I am not a Christian, can I come to camp?
You can bet that camp is going to lots of fun. You don’t need to be a Christian to come to camp and in fact, many youth who come to camp are still exploring their faith. However, we’ll be expected to participate in discussions about faith and the bible during your time at camp.
Which adults will be taking youth to camp
There will be at least one male (TBD) and one female (either Djenane or LiLing) adult mentor taking your youth to camp if there are both boys and girls signed up. All adult mentors have been background checked and if they are driving, have provided proof of insurance.
Are camp scholarships available?
We will only be offering partial scholarships for those with a clear and demonstrated need. However, what we hope to do is to raise funds together to reduce the cost of camp for everyone as much as possible. The $405/person fee includes the cost of transportation and adult mentors as Fuge relies on churches sending their own adults to run small groups and chaperone their own teens.
What are the sleeping arrangements going to be like at camp?
Our boys and girls will be housed separately but our boys will be in the same cabin, and our girls will be be housed in the same cabin. The cabins have bunk beds, you’ll have bring your own linens and pillow.
What are the COVID protocols at camp? Will our kids be safe?
COVID protocols for FUGE camp will be available in April, 2022. You can find the protocols for camp here: https://fugecamps.lifeway.com/covid-19-updates/
What’s the plan for transportation to camp?
Adult mentors will be driving youth to camp in their private vehicles. Each adult will have completed a background check and verified their insurance policy before driving kids to camp. The cost of camp above covers gas reimbursement for drivers.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel your registration between March 20 and April 30, you will loose you $75 non refundable deposit. If you cancel on or after May 1, you have to pay an additional $75 cancellation fee.
What should I pack for camp?
Here is the packing list for camp. Please note that if students bring cell phones, they will be collected by mentors at the start of camp and returned at the end of camp.
